Responsible and ethical data management

DLG and PDV are responsible and principled members of the direct marketing industry. We set and enforce stringent data management policies. Our clients can trust us with their data.

We liaise with all relevant regulatory and industry bodies. This ensures compliance and keeps our processes in line with current guidelines. DLG and PDV only contract with suppliers, partners, and clients who abide by the same rules.


The Dataseal is made up of over 70 requirements which the business must implement, and demonstrate as part of an annual comprehensive audit. Key areas of this audit are listed below:

  • Risk assessment
  • Management responsibility
  • Traceability and responsibility of data
  • Virus/spy prevention
  • Internet/network security
  • System/server security
  • Back-ups
  • Data storage and elimination

The focal point of Dataseal is to make certain that all sensitive data is protected throughout our network, and also to ensure the safe transmission of consumer data to and from our suppliers and clients. This accreditation, which has been held since 2010, endorses our robust approach to managing and protecting consumer data throughout the organisation. The Dataseal accreditation is issued to select organisations with just 20 out of 960 DMA members attaining the endorsement.

Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

DLG and PDV are registered with the ICO as data controllers under the Data Protection Act 2018. The ICO governs the three critical pieces of consumer data protection legislation:

  • Data Protection Act 2018
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (2003)

We regularly consult with the ICO on all aspects of data protection compliance.
